Ana Maria Barbosa founded the Canoa Criança Association, a Circus and Theatre School, in 1995.

Today this Circus brings together children from 4 to 16 years old from all social classes of Canoa Quebrada, providing an opportunity for the best social integration possible, and offering boths locals and tourists unforgettable shows. The children themselves are exposed to the tourism business and many of them have gone on to work as tourist animators.
